Another Successful Year on the Green: Baby Luigi's 2023 Golf Outing

Updated: Mar 10

In June of 2023, the second annual Baby Luigi Savone Foundation Memorial Golf Outing took place at TPC Michigan. Golfers, sponsors, and donors alike came in numbers not only to golf, but to make new connections, honor Baby Luigi's life and, most importantly for this update, to support the Foundation's mission - a $16,000 donation was made to C.S. Mott Children's Hospital (Mott) as a result of golfer's and donor's extreme generosity.

2023 Golf Outing: Where did the donations actually go?

The Baby Luigi Savone Foundation's mission is to enrich the experience of patients, ease the burdens of families, and empower healthcare workers by raising funds to provide essential support to C.S. Mott Children's Hospital. The donations given during our 2023 outing did just that and we are very pleased to finally announce that our official gift letter has been executed and includes the following items:

  • The purchase of a slushy machine and supplies for placement in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Mott. This will provide an enjoyable and refreshing drink option for all throughout the unit on the days they need something to smile about the most; the machine will be accompanied by a placard stating it is in memory of Baby Luigi.

  • The remaining balance (more than $10,000!) will be used to create a fund to send selected nurses to an annual conference to further the care of critically ill children in the Mott PICU; selected nurses will be approved by the Chief Nursing Officer of Mott.

While our Foundation and donors may be excited, no one is more excited than the recipients in the PICU. Through correspondence with Mike Hartwell, Senior Associate Director of Development with Mott, he shared many thanks and the enthusiasm of those these gifts will directly impact. "Your gift is so important toward delivering excellence in care in so many wonderful ways," Mr. Hartwell commented. He also noted that upon sharing the update, the head of the department "was especially pleased in how your gift will enhance our nursing program. [He] is a strong advocate for supporting our nurses... to advance patient care."

"Your gift is so important toward delivering excellence in care in so many wonderful ways. We cannot thank you enough!"

Foundation members, especially Luigi's mom (Samantha) and dad (Anthony), never cease to be amazed at the outpouring of love that has been seen over the past three years for Luigi, for his family, and for Mott Children's Hospital and all they do.

It's thanks to each and every one of you that not only our golf outings, but the Baby Luigi Savone Foundation, is finding the success that it is. Let's begin the count down until we see each other on the green again!
