Our Story

The Baby Luigi Savone Foundation was established in 2023, a 501(c)(3) organization, designed to support Mott Children's Hospital, its programs and its people. Here's why:

Luigi James Savone was born on November 18, 2021. He was diagnosed with an extremely rare genetic syndrome and survived until January 11, 2022. For the weeks that he was here, Anthony and Samantha became "dad" and "mom", and got to know and love the sweet boy that he was – their days were full of, and are now remembered with, head rubs, soft voices and a favorite dinosaur swaddle.
 

Anthony and Samantha, their newest addition Stella Lou, and so many others, will be forever changed by Luigi. While fearlessly loving and advocating for their son, Anthony and Samantha were also changed by the support they were given by Mott Children's Hospital and its staff in their time of greatest need.

Now, with the support of donors like you, it's their time to give back and to ensure that all others who come after them at Mott can have the same luxuries they had, or better - a place to stay and food to nourish them when it was the last thing they were thinking about, incredibly trained and knowledgeable doctors and nurses, and afterwards, continued support through grief counseling and other support services.
